During our August Market Intelligence Webinar, we heard from Matt Lufkin, Jeff Rettig and Bret Dewy who provided an update on the state of the supply chain. Jeff shared that in the decking industry both Trex and TimberTech have brought on additional manufacturing in the last year. This is the same for siding with both Hardie and LP expanding their manufacturing.

 

Bret communicated there is significant capacity of vinyl windows being made across the US. We were seeing lead times that had expanded past 30 weeks, but now we are seeing lead times between 6-12 weeks and fully expect to see that trend continue.

 

Ali Wolf shared great insight into the current state of the housing market and trends. While Zonda looks at the hard data, they like to supplement that with their division president surveys where they talk to homebuilders across the country. One key data point that Ali shared is when builders were asked if lowering base prices resulted in an increase in demand, most said it absolutely resulted in a spur in sales. One even saying that when they lowered their base pricing, it resulted in selling 15 homes almost overnight.
